Parkmont Village Green is currently having a problem with Washington High School students trespassing in the complex. This has been an ongoing problem over the years however, it has at times been dealt with in a successful manner when the school works proactively with the PVG residents.
Problems have included but not been limited to the following:
- Students loitering in complex during lunch time, playing loud music, and getting hostile and disrespectful when asked to leave
- Trash being dropped along the pathway throughout the complex as the students walk from school to Quik Stop and back
- Brand new playgrounds have been vandalized with graffiti both with permanent ink markers and spray paint
- Trash cans purposely knocked over
- Teens involved in sexual acts in the complex
- Students smoking and doing drugs
The Board has sent several emails to the Principal of WHS and we have requested the following:
- Periodic announcements made to all students to not enter the Parkmont Village Green complex. This includes an email blast to the parents and/or included in parent letters.
- Yard supervisors positioned on Eggers near Fabian and Dalton to prevent students from cutting through and to take the names and follow up on the students who are exiting from the complex at the end of lunch.
- Occasional walk through by the principal or WHS staff during lunch breaks, through the complex, as their presence will deter the students in the future.
The actions listed above have been utilized in years past to reduce the trespassing, littering, and other issues, and have worked to an extent.
Principal Bob Moran’s response to our numerous emails was to state that he would “…make and announcement…” to the students to stay out of the complex. This is definitely a start however, it only works for those students who adhere to the rules. We are having issues with the students who don’t care, are not respectful, or who have literally not gotten the message. We have sent a follow up email to the Fremont Unified School District Board and have received a response that they will follow up directly with the school to see what they can do. This is encouraging however, we need to keep the emails flowing and make sure the school does something to work as a partner with the HOA on resolving this issue.
This is where you, the residents and owners, are being asked to provide support. Please email the Principal with your concerns on this issue. The email should contain a description of your experience with the issue and dates of occurrences. Feel free to send a copy to the FUSD Board and to info@fabsinc.com.
The Principal is Bob Moran and his email address is bmoran@fusdk12.net and click here for a link to the list of FUSD board members contact information. Please keep all emails respectful and accurate.
IMPORTANT: And I can’t stress this enough…while it is okay to ask the students to leave the complex, DO NOT block them from walking through if they do not listen, do not engage in an argument or get physical with the students. You don’t want to add fuel to the fire or accidentally bait them into a response that escalates the situation.
Together we hope to find a productive and peaceful resolution to this issue.
Thank you for your support.
I have lived here 40 years and the only thing that has ever been successful in stopping them is when the city posted a police officer on our property to arrest them for trespassing.
